In some cases, your transactions may be automatically categorized incorrectly — for example, a transfer might appear as a spending transaction, or income could show up as an expense. Not to worry — you can easily fix this.
How to Re-Categorize a Transaction
-
Head to your Transactions list.
-
Click on the transaction you’d like to edit.
-
In the Category dropdown, choose the correct type:
-
Spending for expenses
-
Income for incoming funds
-
Transfer for money moved between your own accounts
-
-
Once selected, your dashboard and reports will update to reflect the change.
Re-Categorize Misplaced Purchases
You can also re-categorize transactions that are assigned to the wrong category.
For example: If an Apple purchase is automatically labeled as Shopping, but you’d prefer it to appear under Phone, you can change it by following the same steps above. This helps keep your budget accurate and aligned with how you actually spend.
💡 Pro tip: After re-categorizing, you’ll be prompted to create a Rule so the system remembers your preference going forward.
🔔 Note: Transactions must be fully processed before you can make edits. If a transaction is still pending, it won’t be editable just yet.
