How to track shared or reimbursed expenses?

Origin makes it easy to track shared expenses (like rent with a roommate) and reimbursements (like work-related spending) so your budget stays accurate and your income totals aren’t inflated.

🏠 Tracking Roommate Rent Payments

If your roommate pays you back for rent:

1. Locate the repayment transaction in your account

2. Tap on the category to edit it

3. Select “Rent” or your housing category instead of leaving it as “Income”

💸 Using Zelle for Rent or Shared Payments

Zelle transactions are often categorized as Transfers by default.

To fix this:

1. Find the Zelle transaction

2. Tap the category and change it from “Transfer” to “Housing” or “Rent”

3. Save the changes

💼 Handling Work Reimbursements

1. Categorize the original expense normally (e.g., “Travel” or “Office Supplies”)

2. When the reimbursement comes through, find that transaction

3. Assign it to the same category as the original expense
