Once you’ve subscribed to ID Protection, you can monitor your personal information, manage data broker removals, and access identity restoration and insurance resources directly from Origin.
Where can I see my alerts?
Your alerts appear in the ID Protection section of the Origin app.
Currently, ID Protection alerts are available in-app only.
What should I do if my information is found on the dark web?
If ID Protection finds your information on the dark web, your alert will tell you what information was exposed and provide recommended next steps.
For example, if an exposed password is one you still use, you should change it anywhere you’ve used that password.
Once information has been leaked on the dark web, it can’t be removed. That’s why ID Protection continues monitoring for new exposures and alerts you if your information appears again.
How does data broker removal work?
Data brokers and people-search sites collect and list personal information online.
Once you subscribe to ID Protection, removal requests are sent to data broker and people-search sites that list your information.
Removals can take time to complete. You can track the progress of your requests from the ID Protection section of Origin.
Because data brokers may collect and list your information again, ID Protection continues scanning and can request removal again if your information reappears.
What should I do if I think my identity has been stolen?
Open ID Protection and go to Restoration Services to connect with an identity restoration specialist.
A specialist can walk you through the recovery process and help you file an insurance claim if needed.
How does identity theft insurance work?
Your ID Protection subscription includes up to $3 million in identity theft insurance for eligible expenses while your coverage is active.
For complete coverage details, review the Summary of Benefits available in the ID Protection section of the Origin app.
For help with a claim or questions about your policy, open ID Protection and go to Restoration Services.
What happens to my information if I cancel ID Protection?
After your ID Protection subscription ends, Origin keeps your past ID Protection results for up to seven years in case you sign up again.
If you delete your Origin account, your ID Protection data is also deleted.
You can review the full ID Protection Terms and Conditions for additional details.
