What is AI Advisor Memory?
AI Advisor Memory is a new feature that allows Origin's AI Advisor to remember important details about your financial life for future conversations. Instead of repeating yourself every time you start a new chat, the AI will remember important facts you specifically tell it to remember, just by asking naturally in chat.
Why We Built This
We heard from many users that having to repeat the same information in every conversation was frustrating. You told us you wanted the AI to remember important context like:
- "This is my rental property, not my vacation home"
- "Remember my rent changed to $1,770"
- "I'm planning to refinance my home soon"
With Memory, your AI Advisor now works more like a real financial advisor who remembers what you've shared.
Key Benefits
Save Time: No need to re-explain your financial situation in every conversation. The AI remembers what you've told it to remember.
Better Context: The AI can recall previous memories and build on them, creating a more natural, continuous conversation experience.
You're in Control: View, edit, and delete anything saved to memory at any time.
What Gets Remembered
The AI can remember information you explicitly ask it to save, including:
Personal Financial Factors
- Goals: Future plans like buying a car, saving for childcare, or refinancing your home
- Upcoming Dates: Important financial events, trips, or deadlines
- Life Factors: Major life changes affecting your finances like career transitions, moving, or family changes
- Income Details: Changes to your salary, partner's income, payment schedules, or side income
Updates & Corrections About Your Accounts
- Investments: Asset allocation preferences, brokerage details, contribution limits
- Properties: Clarifications about rental properties vs. primary homes
- Expenses: Rent amounts, utility costs, budget details, recurring subscriptions
- Liabilities: Loan consolidations, debt payoff goals, credit card due dates
How Memory Works
Asking to Remember: Simply tell the AI to remember something using phrases like:
- "Remember that I'm planning to retire early"
- "Can you save that my rent is $1,770?"
- "Keep in mind I prefer index funds over individual stocks"
Automatic Recall: When you ask relevant questions in future chats, the AI will automatically reference saved memories to provide better advice.
Memory Limits: You can save up to 50 personal factors and 50 account updates/corrections.
Managing Your Memory
Access your saved memories through:
- Command Center → AI Financial Profile → AI Memory
- Individual Chat → Three-dot menu → AI Financial Profile → AI Memory
From here you can:
- View All Memories: See everything the AI has remembered, sorted by most recent
- Edit Memories: Click on any memory to modify the details
- Delete Memories: Remove individual memories or clear everything at once
- Turn Memory On/Off: Control whether the AI can save new memories or recall existing ones
Privacy & Partners
Your Memory is Private: If you share your Origin account with a partner, each person has their own separate memory. Neither partner can view or edit the other's saved memories.
Memory Settings: Each partner has independent memory settings and can turn memory on or off individually.
Tips for Getting the Most from Memory
- Be Explicit: When you want something remembered, say "remember" or "save this" directly
- Update as Things Change: If your income, goals, or situation changes, tell the AI to remember the new information
- Review Periodically: Check your saved memories occasionally to keep them current
- Use for Important Context: Save information that significantly impacts financial decisions
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the AI remember everything from every conversation? A: No. The AI only saves information when you explicitly ask it to remember something. It doesn't automatically store entire conversations (a potential feature in the future).
Q: What if I want to have a conversation without using memory? A: You can turn Memory off in your Financial Profile settings. When off, the AI won't save new memories or recall existing ones.
Q: What happens if I delete a conversation? A: Deleting a conversation doesn't automatically delete memories saved from that conversation. You'll need to manage memories separately through AI Financial Profile.
Q: Will this work on mobile? A: Yes! Memory works across all Origin platforms - web, iOS, and Android apps.
