What documents do I need to file my taxes?

The documents you need depends on your income sources and tax situation. At minimum, everyone filing taxes will need:

1. Social Security number or tax ID
2. Income statements (W-2, 1099s)
3. Prior year tax return
4. Bank account & routing numbers for refund deposits/payments

Additional documents if they apply:

Self-Employed: Records of 1099 income, business expenses
Retired: 1099-R, SSA-1099 for retirement income 
Landlord: Rental property income/expenses
Health Care: 1095-A if enrolled in Marketplace plan, medical expenses
College Students: 1098-T, educational expenses

If you’re eligible to file through Origin in 2027, you can upload supported tax documents and enter your tax information through our integrated April Tax experience.

For the 2027 tax filing season, tax filing through Origin is available to eligible members who receive Origin through their employer. Individual Origin members will not be able to file a new tax return through Origin in 2027.
