Origin subscriptions may be paid using an authorized payment method, including a bank account through ACH.
If you see a subscription payment from a bank account and aren’t sure why it was used, here’s how it works.
How does Origin get permission to charge my bank account?
Before a bank account can be used for an ACH subscription payment, you must provide authorization for that payment method.
When you connect an eligible bank account and provide ACH consent, you authorize Origin to use that account for applicable subscription payments. When the account is connected, you can review and remove this authorization directly from the confirmation screen.
You can also manage or remove your ACH authorization at any time within the Origin app:
- Locate the account in your Linked Accounts list.
- Click the three-dot menu.
- Select Manage ACH consent.
- Review or remove your authorization.
Why was a different payment method used?
If your renewal payment fails using your primary registered payment method, Origin may attempt the payment using a secondary authorized payment method associated with your subscription.
Secondary payment methods are only used as a backup when the renewal charge cannot be completed using your primary payment method.
You can review and manage your authorized payment methods in the Origin app to make sure your payment preferences are up to date.
What if an ACH payment is already pending?
Once an ACH payment has been initiated, we generally cannot cancel or reverse it while it is still pending.
ACH payments can take a few business days to finish processing. If you’re eligible for a refund, we may need to wait until the payment has fully processed before the refund can be issued.
What should I do if I don’t recognize a payment?
If you don’t recognize a payment from Origin or believe a payment method was used without your authorization, contact Origin Support.
Our team can review your subscription and billing history, including the payment method used and available authorization records, and help with any eligible refund.
When contacting us, please include the email address associated with your Origin account and the date and amount of the charge. For your security, do not send full bank account or card numbers.
