Why Am I Being Asked to “Connect Spending Accounts” On The AI Budget Builder

If Origin is prompting you to connect spending accounts when you try to generate an AI-powered budget, it usually means there isn’t enough recent transaction history in your account yet for AI to build accurate budget suggestions.

What Origin Needs to Generate an AI Budget

Origin reviews your cash flow history from the past 7 months and looks for at least 4 months that include:

• Income of $500 or more, and

• Any spending/expense transactions 

• Minimum of 4 months worth of data

If you don’t meet those minimums, Origin may not be able to generate budget suggestions.

What You’ll See If You Don’t Have Enough History

You may see a message like:

“Connect more income and expense accounts and let AI build a personalized budget—just for you.”

And when you click Generate AI-powered budget, you may get a prompt asking you to connect spending accounts.

How to Move Forward

You can still use budgeting right away:

• Select "Continue without connecting" to proceed without AI suggestions, or

• Choose "Set budget manually" to build your budget yourself
