How does the live balance estimate feature work?

We understand that your portfolio balances can sometimes feel a bit behind—especially when markets are moving quickly. To help bridge that gap, we introduced the Live Balance Estimate feature.

Your portfolio balance updates are sent from your connected investment accounts anywhere from once to several times per day. We refresh your Portfolio Balance each time we receive new data from your institution.

To provide a more up-to-date snapshot between those syncs—particularly during active market hours—Live Balance Estimates apply current market prices (updated every 15 minutes) to your most recently synced holdings.

How it works

1. We take your last synced share quantities for each holding.
2. We multiply those quantities by the most recent market price available (updated every 15 minutes).
3. We sum these updated values with any cash positions to calculate your live balance estimate.
    

Example:

• Last synced balance: $1,000
  • 3.84 Nvidia shares = $600
  • 1.85 Amazon shares = $400
• Current market prices:
  • Nvidia = $160/share → 3.84 × $160 = $614.40
  • Amazon = $220/share → 1.85 × $220 = $407.00
• Live balance estimate: $614.40 + $407.00 = $1,021.40
   

Important considerations

• Trading activity: If you buy or sell investments during the day, your live estimate won’t reflect these changes until your next account sync.
  Historical data: Live estimates are for current viewing only. They don’t replace or alter your historical balance records or reports.
  Data accuracy: Live estimates rely on accurate holdings data from your financial institutions. If an estimate seems off, try disabling the feature for that account and contact Support to investigate.
